FBackup

FBackup is an easy to use freeware that is capable of protecting files by saving copies to different file storage units such as external hard drives, firewire devices or remote servers. It has 2 basic operations: Full Backup which archives and compresses or zips files and Mirror Backup which saves exact versions of the original files. Its ability to backup files without closing the program window makes it unique and it can also manage certain actions like turning the computer off after each backup task and clearing backup prior to running the program. It supports past and current Windows versions up to Windows 8.

SyncBackFree V6

SyncBackFree V6 is a free application for backing up and synchronizing files. It has a Simple Mode- for first time users and an Advanced Mode for professionals. Files stored locally in a computer or on external devices such as Flash Drives, external hard drives and CDs can be backed up and synchronized to almost any destination including remote and FTP servers and vice versa. A record of the action performed can be emailed to users for verification. It's Windows 7, 8, Vista and XP-compatible.

Clonezilla

Clonezilla is a disc cloning and disc imaging freeware designed to backup and restore files on GNU and Linux OS computers. What sets it apart is that it has two free versions - Clonezilla Live for backing up a single computer and the Clonezilla Server Edition for doing the same job to as many as 40 computers simultaneously. Cloning is easy, fast and efficient, especially for massive cloning tasks as it only saves and restores used blocks in the hard discs.

Redo Backup and Recovery

Redo Backup and Recovery is a free bare-metal recovery and backup software that works even if a hard drive has crashed, has no OS or even if its memory has been erased by a virus. Users can back up files even if they cannot log in or boot their computers. There is no need to install the software and it can be downloaded to a flash drive or burned to a CD. AceBackup is a free data backup and encryption software in one. It runs on past versions of Windows up to Windows 7. Paragon Backup & Recovery 2013 Free not only backs up files, but it can also back up an entire computer including the operating system, the software and all drivers and user settings. Files can be saved on CDs, DVDs, external HDDs, flash drives and in a Backup Capsule a separate hidden partition on the computer's hard disk. Should the system be unbootable it has a Recovery Media Builder as a supplementary tool. It works on Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, and 2000.

JaBack

JaBack is another free data backup software which unlike other tools is multi-platform and can work on Linux, Mac OSX and Windows operating systems. Backing up files can be scheduled and ran automatically. They can be copied and saved to destinations such as remote FTP servers or emailed to a mail server. It sends email notifications when a backup task has failed and prompts users to backup files when a change has been identified by the program.
